How can I book a QUICS service?
To book and use QUICS services, you need an account with the Academic Cloud, a so-called Academic ID. The Academic Cloud is a platform that offers services for research institutions. Within the framework of QUICS, access is also possible for companies and private individuals.
When you click on Book for a service, you will be automatically redirected to the Academic Cloud login page. If you do not yet have a user account, you can register.
Not all new QUICS users need to create a user account with their own login details.
If you work at a university or research institution in Germany, in many cases you can log in to the Academic Cloud using your own institution's login details. This is possible if your institution participates in the German Research Network's authentication procedure.
To check this, click on the Federated Login field. Now search for your institution in the drop-down menu and, if it is listed, select it. Clicking on Continue login opens a login window for your institution, where you can enter your usual access data.
If federated login is not possible, you will need to create a new Academic ID.
To do this, first select Register and then enter the email address you wish to use to register with the Academic Cloud. If your email address is not yet linked to an Academic Cloud account, a window with registration options will open.
Click on the Sign up with mail and password field. You will be redirected to an account registration form. Enter your name and email address and create a password. Click on Create Account. You will then receive an email at the email address you provided.
Please click on the link contained in the email to confirm your email address. Your registration is now complete. In future, you can simply log in with your email address and your chosen password.
After logging in, you can manage your account. For example, you can change your password or secure your account with two-factor authentication. Now you can start booking your desired QUICS services.
